In His Name, the Most High

Principles

What we hold to, and why.

A closed book bound in dark leather, a gold geometric star on its cover, rests on a carved wooden book stand beside an inkwell and a pen, in sunlight through a lattice window.
  1. We do the technology; the hawza does the scholarship

This was agreed with the hawza from the start. We build the tools and a careful way of keeping what they hold; the scholars and students of the hawza write, review and judge. Nothing on this site, and nothing our tools produce, is a ruling.

  2. Privacy is a hard line

This site makes no request to anyone else: no analytics, no tracking, no fonts or scripts from elsewhere. It sets one cookie, and only if you choose a language. A message you send us is emailed to us and not stored. Our tools sell nothing to anyone, and a contributor’s recordings and records stay theirs, for life.

  3. Provenance is the product

Every passage carries its source and its place, every change records who made it, and every machine output says it is one. How the model learns.

  4. With permission

The scholars’ material we keep is kept with the permission of their offices, and attributed to them. Finding where it is published is our work, never theirs.

  5. Self-funded

IlmFlow is paid for by the people who build it. We take no money with strings attached, and nothing we hold is for sale.

  6. Local inference

Our model runs on our own machines. Nothing a contributor records or writes is sent to an outside AI service, and the transcription of lessons, when it comes, will run there too.
